Impacting your World

Sir Winston Churchill Quotation:
'To every man there comes in his lifetime that special moment when he is figuratively tapped on the shoulder to do a special thing unique to him and fitted to his talents.

What a tragedy if that moment finds him unprepared or unqualified for the work which would be his finest hour.'

All that it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing. America is in great crisis including the group of kids between 12-18 years old. Since evil has pervaded America, we have an awesome opportunity to serve this critical human need.

Jesus calls us to respond to human need through compassion: (love and action) not by insulation or pity.

1 John 3 (NIV)
16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for one another. 17 If any one of you has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in you? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.

God please use me to meet the need that is set before me.

I will offer him nothing that does not cost me something; did you give until it hurt?

In America we hunger for love but we do not give it to one another.

Houses don't fulfill your heart, cloths, positions, money, cars don't bring joy only Jesus brings full joy and contentment to your soul. When you have that joy you serve people, God serves it though you.

You can go for the money, you can go for prestige, you can go for titles, you can go for people, but nothing will fulfill you like loving Jesus Christ and letting him serve through you because you are a pencil in the hand of God.

You are either going to make your world a better place or you will make it worse.

May he literally find you qualified and prepared to do the work which would be your finest hour?

Jobs and No Jobs

This week ended with many of my friends losing their jobs. The Milwaukee job market is on a steep decline for technical companies who employ engineers and technical people.

Through my own experience with loss of job I have learned that I am not in control and that I have put my trust in God to give me everything I need. I came to realize through this hardship that God was really the only thing that I need, especially when he was all that I had. If you are someone who has lost a job, remember to count your blessings!

The church of England has published two prayers for people who have lost their job and for people who remain after peers have lost their jobs.

Prayer on being made redundant
'Redundant' – the word says it all -
'useless,
unnecessary,
without purpose,
surplus to requirements.'
Thank you, Heavenly Father, that in the middle of
the sadness,
the anger,
the uncertainty,
the pain,
I can talk to you.
Hear me as I cry out in confusion,
help me to think clearly,
and calm my soul.
As life carries on,
may I know your presence with me
each and every day.
And as I look to the future,
help me to look for fresh opportunities, for new directions.
Guide me by your Spirit,
and show me your path,
through Jesus, the way, the truth and the life. Amen.

Prayer for those remaining in the workplace
Life has changed:
colleagues have gone – redundant, out of work.
Suddenly, what seemed so secure is now so very fragile.
It's hard to know what I feel:
sadness, certainly,
guilt, almost, at still having a job to go to,
and fear of the future:
who will be next?
how will I cope with the increased pressure of work?
Lord Jesus, in the midst of this uncertainty, help me to keep going:
to work to the best of my ability,
taking each day at a time,
and taking time each day to walk with you
for you are the way, the truth and the life. Amen.
